KTP BAND is a certified company with the State of Illinois and City of Chicago. KTP is a Certified
Vendor with the Chicago Park District and instrumental in performing events around the city, suburbs
and nationally, such as the Neighborhood Summer Festivals, the Taste of Chicago, the African
Caribbean Festivals, The New York Music Awards, Indianapolis Classis Festivals, Essence Festival
in New Orleans, the Daytona Beach Rock Festival, Stellar Awards in Atlanta, Georgia, Back to
School Festivals and Parades and the list goes on. Currently, KTP has currently signed a
Distribution Contract with TMG/Street Pride/Universal Warner.
Tom Hayes is the founder and creator of KTP Band. Born and raised in Chicago, Tom
developed his unique talent for music at the early age of five and has since forged a
named for himself throughout the city as a prolific bass guitarist, lead and background
vocalist. Tom is also one of the top promoters in the city, suburbs and across the US. His
passion and dedication for the music industry has attracted many groups, such as the
“Enchantments”, “The Blue Notes”, “Freddy Jackson”, and many more. With a M.A. in
Business/Music, Tom has inspired and motivated others to share his enthusiasm to form
the renowned KTP Band.
Claude “Smoothie” Jackson Jr. was born and raised in Gary, IN. He began playing at
a very young age and joined the Hoosier Blues Band and with Jesse James with the
national hit “I Can Do Bad All By Myself”. Smoothie performed with the Band as a
lead and rhythm guitarist touring Japan and Las Vegas. Smoothie is the Music
Director for the KTP Band and performs as the lead and rhythm guitarist as well as
lead and background vocals. Smoothie has also opened for many famous artists,
such as, Bobby Blue Bland, Gene Chandler and many more while collaborating with
Booker T. Jones Jr. for several studio projects.
Roger “Keys” Weaver, a native of Chicago is the Keyboardist, Lead and
Background vocals for the KTP Band. Roger has performed for many well-known
celebrities, such as Michael Jordan’ Fund-raiser at Nikko Hotel and for President
Bill Clinton’s re-election campaign in Chicago. Roger was commissioned by the
National Professional Network to perform with artists such as George Wallace,
Mary Wilson, Ben Vereen and Patti Labelle, Billy Cobham, Lonnie Brooks, Regina
Bell, Marvin Gaye, and Winton Marsalis. Roger’s talent soared to even greater
heights as Music Director/Arranger for the Broadway Play “The Diary of Black
Men” which toured throughout United States and Europe.
Glover Washington is the Drummer, Lead and Background vocals, and A/V
Technical Engineer for the KTP Band. Glover’s love and passion for music began
as a church drummer and quickly excelled to Rock and formed a Rock Band with
his brother. While attending the University of Illinois, Glover discovered he also
loved Jazz music and joined the Black Chorus and performed gospel and
contemporary music with a 100 voice choir. Glover continued to engage with
various bands until he hit the right note by joining the KTP Band.
Bernard “Uncle Barney” Hudson is Lead Singer and Background Vocals for the
KTP Band. He performed with the” Free Street” Theatre group, a musical play,
where he toured London and Scotland. He began his musical career on the
Westside of Chicago and among his many talents, he loves to write poetry.
Barnard has played with many bands throughout the Chicago area and studied
vocals at the Bloom School of Music and Columbia College.
